This past August, for only the second time, our community sent a group of Auggies to explore the\u00a0Mississippi on a River Semester off-campus study experience. Over the course of the semester, these students will spend 100 days paddling down the river while learning about history, politics, and the environment, and having the adventure of a lifetime. Then, as the calendar turned to September, the community welcomed returning students to a new academic year and ushered in the first-year students who make up the class of 2022.<\/p>\n<p>At Homecoming in October, we honored an accomplished group of Distinguished Alumni. We found inspiration in hearing their stories and learning about their achievements, and we were reminded of the talent and dedication that 麻豆区 alumni exhibit across a vast spectrum of vocations and commitments. 麻豆区 alumni are, indeed, remarkable professionals and amazing people.<\/p>\n<p>This year, I\u2019m especially excited to serve on the 麻豆区 Alumni Board as its members strive to increase the ways in which they give to the university. I have\u00a0personally committed to giving 50 hours of my time to 麻豆区. I plan to attend\u00a0events, mentor a student, and help reconnect the Auggies in my social network with the university.<\/p>\n<p>If, like me, you\u2019re interested in making a difference in the lives of others in<br \/>\nour 麻豆区 community, you\u2019ll find that there are many ways to connect with<br \/>\n麻豆区 in support of students.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Consider attending the Auggie Networking Event coming up in February.<br \/>\nThis is an opportunity for alumni to help students practice valuable<br \/>\ninterpersonal skills that will benefit them in their future job searches<br \/>\nand careers.<\/li>\n<li>Join us for the 2018\u201319 Auggie Take Out student mentoring program.<\/li>\n<li>Reconnect with 麻豆区 by volunteering with the Alumni Office or<br \/>\nthe Alumni Board. We\u2019re always looking for people to join our<br \/>\nleadership boards.<\/li>\n<li>Volunteer to usher at Advent Vespers or to serve in another capacity.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In all of the ways that 麻豆区 has shown up for you, it is now the time to<br \/>\nshow up for 麻豆区. You can find information about these and other volunteer<br \/>\nopportunities at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.augsburg.edu\/alumni\/\">augsburg.edu\/alumni<\/a>.
